'Norman and Benjamin Triumph on Tokyo Return'

Men's 3000 mSC national record holder Ryuji Miura (Juntendo Univ.) made it look easy at the Golden Grand Prix meet, winning his first steeple of the year in 8:22.25 with a very impressive last lap. Both men's long jump winner Natsuki Yamakawa (Saga Sports Assoc.) and women's 100 mH runner-up Mako Fukube (NKK) turned out all-time Japanese #8 marks, Yamakawa with a jump of 8.14 m (+0.4) and Fukube running 13.05 (-0.1). Complete results here.

Miura basically did whatever he wanted. He said he planned to stay in the group all race until the last 1000 and that's what he did.
Effortless and impressive, didn't even have to try.
I hope he arrives at the World Championship in top form cause I think he has a realistic shot at improving his Tokyo Olympics time and placement.

Do we already know what he will run next week at the Kanto regionals? (assuming he will be there)
Last year he "sacrificed" the win in 3000SC to help Juntendo scoring points in 1500 and 5000, wonder if his approach will be different this time.
He'd obviously win easily the 3000SC, not really a challenge that one at this point.

Endo, Nishikawa and Yamakawa Announce Corporate Team Changes

The SG Holdings men's corporate team announced on Oct. 1 that long-distance athletes Hyuga Endo and Yuichiro Nishikawa have joined its roster after leaving the Sumitomo Denko team. Endo, 28, won the Junior Olympics 3000 m while at Koriyama Nishi J.H.S. before going on to Gakuho Ishikawa H.S. where he was the the top Japanese placer in the 5000 m at the National High School Championships 2 years in a row. After graduating from Gakuho Ishikawa he joined the Sumitomo Denko team, winning the National Championships 5000 m in 2021. He won gold at the 2023 Asian Championships and represented Japan at the 2022 and 2023 World Championships. "I will give everything I have as part of the team and work hard toward helping it win the New Year Ekiden," he said of his new environment. 2 Athletes Provisionally Suspended After Positive Drug Tests at Asian Games

The International Testing Agency announced on Oct. 2 that provisional suspensions have been imposed on two athletes, Kazakhstan's Aiana Bolatbekkyzy in track and field, and Tajikistan's Issamjon Sharifov in tennis, after they tested positive for prohibited substances at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Aichi. Bolatbekkyzy, 19, tested positive for the steroid drostanolone in a sample collected during an in-competition test at the Games.
