January's Osaka Half Marathon Canceled

Scheduled for Jan. 31, the 2021 Osaka Half Marathon has been canceled. In light of the ongoing coronavirus crisis, after discussion with a variety of involved organizations it was decided that it would not be possible to ensure the safety of the many athletes, staff and others gathered together at the event. The organizers ask for the public's understanding.

Translator's note: The Osaka Half Marathon is the companion event to the Osaka International Women's Marathon, of which no decision about its holding has been made public yet. The half has both male and female fields and is run simultaneously with the marathon with a different starting point and course.

2 Athletes Provisionally Suspended After Positive Drug Tests at Asian Games

The International Testing Agency announced on Oct. 2 that provisional suspensions have been imposed on two athletes, Kazakhstan's Aiana Bolatbekkyzy in track and field, and Tajikistan's Issamjon Sharifov in tennis, after they tested positive for prohibited substances at the Asian Games in Nagoya, Aichi.
