Seiko Golden Grand Prix, 10000 m National Championships to be Postponed

On Mar. 26 a JAAF official indicated that the Seiko Golden Grand Prix track and field meet scheduled for May 10 at the new Tokyo Olympic Stadium is set to be postponed as a result of the spread of the novel coronavirus. Along with postponing the Seiko Golden Grand Prix, the JAAF is planning to postpone two other events at the new Olympic Stadium, the May 5-6 Olympic test event and the May 9 National Championships 10000 m.

In the women's race, the debuting Jecinta Nyokabi (Denso) went out fast, only to be run down by veteran Yumi Yoshikawa (Canon AC) by 10 km. Nyokabi faded to 6th in 1:10:41, but Yoshikawa pushed on to a PB 1:09:14 for the win.
