On Feb. 5 Rikuren announced that Athens Olympics women's marathon gold medalist Mizuki Noguchi (Team Sysmex) has withdrawn from the first national women's marathon training camp, scheduled to begin Feb. 6 in New Zealand, after suffering inflammation in her left hip. The pain began during a workout on Jan. 30, and following a medical examination Noguchi withdrew to prevent the injury from becoming serious.

Noguchi withdrew from last August's Beijing Olympics marathon after injuring her left thigh. She has been on her way to a full recovery, carrying out a training camp on Amami Oshima island and other serious training early in the year, but during last week's 400 m interval workout she complained that something didn't feel right. After taking several days off she resumed light jogging on Feb. 4th.

The New Zealand training camp was organized as the first step in rebuilding Japanese marathoning following the disaster at the Beijing Olympics, providing top-ranked women from different corporate teams with varying training methodologies the opportunity to come together and learn from one another. Yurika Nakamura (Team Tenmaya) and Yoshimi Ozaki (Team Daiichi Seimei) are scheduled to take part, but Kayoko Fukushi (Team Wacoal) has also withdrawn to allow an injury to her left leg time to heal.

Noguchi is always injured. She only ran 2 marathons since athens. I think she wants to retire and it seems like she'll never get to top form ever again. Her career is over!!! Seriously it shouldn't take 2 years to make a comeback. And she never run berlin marathon anymore. Why she skip berlin for 3 years!!!

I can't see Noguchi really returning to top form and her career is almost following an identical road to Takahashi's.

I kind of agree with everything above, but I sincerely hope i´m wrong. I still want to see her running like before. I hope she doesn´t follow Takahashi´s fate. still too early to vanish!!!!!
