The Japanese broadcast of the Beijing Olympic men's marathon included footage of Japan's Olympic marathon medalists at each commerical break. Sohn Kee-Chung and Nam Seung-Yong were included.

If you were to talk about great Japanese marathoners on the Japanese equivalent of LetsRun, would Sohn be considered a Japanese runner?

That is an excellent, complex question, Adeel. I don't think I can give a definitive answer. My gut reaction would be to say that he would not be acknowledged as Japanese but would still be called Japan's only Olympic men's marathon gold medalist. Like I said, that's only my immediate reaction and may not correspond to what actually "is."
