Hokkaido Governor Suzuki Asks People Not to Come Watch Olympic Marathon and Race Walks

With regard to the issue of spectators at the Tokyo Olympics marathon and race walk events, at a road work and budgetary special committee meeting on July 1, Hokkaido governor Naomichi Suzuki commented, "With a basic principle of asking people to refrain from watching along the course, we would like to seek guidance on effective safety measures (from the organizing committee)". The Tokyo Olympics marathon and race walk competitions are scheduled to take place in central Sapporo, Hokkaido, from Aug. 5 to 8.
