Mao Ichiyama in the 10K was simply outstanding in this race. What a line-up with Sayaka Sato and I believe, Mizuki Matsuda too. The winner was in a league of her own but when Ichiyama tried to hold her pace early on rather than go with the pace maker I thought she won't be able to do this for long but she clung onto that pace for much of the race and if I'm not wrong beat Honami Maeda's time of last week (31min35s) by over 10 seconds! Something like 31min22s from what I could see when she crossed the finish line. Her training is paying off because that is an over 40 second improvement from last week's effort. Sayaka Sato did well from what I could see but Mao Ichiyama and Honami Maeda are really pushing each other and it certainly bodes well for their next marathon performances.

And in the 5K, Nozomi Tanaka put in another superb performance just outside her own PB. Her last km was incredible.
