World Championships Marathons Pull in TV Viewership Ratings Over 13.5%

According to a report by Video Research Ltd., TBS' live broadcast of the Aug. 6 London World Championships men's and women's marathons recorded high TV viewership ratings. The men's marathon starting at 18:55 Japan time averaged a 13.7% viewership rating for its 135 minute broadcast. Beginning at 22:00 Japan time, the 150 minute women's marathon averaged 13.6%.

In the men's marathon civil servant runner Yuki Kawauchi (30, Saitama Pref. Gov't) missed top eight by just 3 seconds, finishing 9th. Mao Kiyota (23, Suzuki Hamamatsu AC) was the top Japanese woman at 16th.
