Thanks to your preview last week, I had a good idea of which runners to pay attention to, which made it that much more fun to cheer Kashiwabara on his run.

Thanks as always for the excellent coverage.

And now back to watching the race back to Tokyo...Philhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08448820324272024029noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4506887802174553845.post-19875839644082836972009-01-02T22:18:00.000+09:002009-01-02T22:18:00.000+09:00No.No.Brett Larnerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13416317533206849280noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4506887802174553845.post-86079441820873347752009-01-02T22:11:00.000+09:002009-01-02T22:11:00.000+09:00To put Japanese collegiate distance running in per...To put Japanese collegiate distance running in perspective, the 5 runners on the top team averaged 3:05 per km, or 30:50 per 10k. In the American NCAA x-country championship (10k), the 5th runner on the winning team ran 30:31, on the 2nd team 30:49, and on the 3rd team 31:01. Of course, the Japanese ran their 30:50 AND THEN ran another 30:50, plus a bit more (4 of the 5 legs are more than 21km).
